Course content
1st Health and social journalism - basic concepts, the definition of a field of interest. 2nd Periodicals devoted to health, medicine and health (special periodicals and on-line portals and periodicals sections universal), the structure of themes and genres. 3rd The main information sources, institutions and organizations. 4th The specifics of processing the information from the field of medicine and health. 5th - 13 Creation, discussion and analysis of their communication are. Possible topics: the Czech healthcare reform: ethics vs. health economics. Alternative medicine. Quality rating portal dedicated to alternative medicine. Patients: patient empowerment in the Czech healthcare system. Hospitals, criteria for assessing the quality of care, significant workplace. (own topics welcome).

Learning outcomes
The course is grounding students to systematically monitor and journalistic processing of the themes of health, medicine and health care. Introductory part of the course will be devoted to presentation of the study area, getting to know the basic structure of information resources and periodicals that deal with scientific topics, and reflect the specifics of journalistic work in the area. The main concern of course is practical search and processing of current and essential topics (communication are creating their own) and creating of appropriate rubric in department's e-zine
Students will acquire practical and professional competences and routines that anable them to work independently in given area and the students will be prepared for the practical part of the final examination.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

Requirements for credit Regular monitoring will be required to print national periodicals focused on the economy and economic supplements or parts of at least one national newspaper. Monitoring will also be an economically-oriented programs in electronic media. From the above media will be taken in addition to its own production examples for analysis. Six contributions to selected topics. Contributions will be published on katederním e-zine, a semester long project (may be in the group 2-3 students) - eg analysis of a periodical / sections, etc. (by prior appointment with the teacher). Colloquium: debate by defense communication are developed and verify the theoretical knowledge acquired under the thematic headings course.
