1. News reporting in the current journalism. The basic concepts. 2. Journalism values, stereotypes, conventions. 3. The news reporting and its specifics. Definitions. Composition, content, structure. 4..Journalism topics. Principles of selection, the differences depending on the type of the media. 5. Basic genres used in the current Czech journalism. 6. Language of news: structure of news, vocabulary. 7. Sequences of news reporting. News subtitles. 8. Information sources in the news. 9. News agency, characteristics, basic procedures. News reporting. 10. Specifics of radio news, composition of spoken news. 11. TV news. Audio and video components, the basic principles of TV news reporting. 12. Internet journalism. Specifics in comparison with other types of news media. 13. Journalism news as entertainment. Infotainment.

Learning outcomes
|
News reporting is one of the basic subjects of a journalism. The course provides basic theoretical and methodological knowledge and practical skills for further work in the media sphere. Students will become familiar with the typology of news. The course pays attention to the overall context of contemporary news reporting and media market. It provides basic knowledge of journalism values, stereotypes and procedures. Students will learn the differences making news for different media types. An integral part of the course is practical tutorial exercises in which students learn how to create their own texts.
Students will be familiar with the media system in the Czech Republic and they will be able to create their own news reports.

Student must be familiar with media in the Czech Republic and with the way they cover news events.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam
Required knowledge and skills: - To identify, classify and analyze intelligence communications in both print and audiovisual media; - To identify their specific composition means; - Determine the characteristics of mass media in relation to intelligence. Credit: - Submission of written work on the chosen topic; - Successful completion of written test.
