Course content
The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of political and regional geography - the state (national territory, an independent state, typology of states) and boundaries (classification and typology of borders, border conflicts). The content of the lectures is on: development and current state of the political map of the world basic geopolitical theory (Heartland theory, theory panregionů, Hearetland-Rimland theory, Cohen's geopolitics, the current geopolitical concept), the geography of power (sphere of interest, geo-economic competition, national security), a global cultural and civilizational factors, policies and issues panregionů, transnational and cross-boundary region regions. Seminars focus on application of theoretical knowledge in concrete examples (students are processed and presented politickogeografickou features of the selected state and selected characteristics of international conflict).

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of political and regional geography - the state (national territory, an independent state, typology of states) and boundaries (classification and typology of borders, border conflicts).
Students are familiarized with he basic concepts of political and regional geography.
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledge in geography.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Active participation in seminars, min. 75% attendance, passing the credit test.
