1st Media Studies (MS), problems with the definition of the subject, relationship to other sciences 2nd history of MS - an overview of basic theories and approaches in MS 3rd Present MS - an overview of basic theories and approaches in MS 4th MK I analyzed in terms of different approaches, basic communication models 5th analysis of MK II - List of basic methodological and analytical approaches 6th analysis of MK III - methods and techniques of research MK 7th MS and their use for the study of journalism 8th MS and intelligence - intelligence as a form of communication, intelligence as a discourse, news as a genre, part narrative intelligence, intelligence from the perspective of political economy / sociology / cultural studies 9th Factors influencing the media content (Shoemaker-Reese) 10th - 12 overview of the major theories related to MK (agenda setting, knowledge gaps, spiral of silence, the criteria for newsworthiness, gatekeeping ...)

Introduction to Media Studies course builds on Introduction to teri media communication and a deeper analysis of the issue devoted to media communication as a central theme of media studies. Students will learn the basic themes of the field of media studies and various theoretical and analytical approaches to the field of applied field. In the first part of the course the course will focus on outlining the coverage of media studies and paradigmatic structure - ie report used different theoretical and analytical approaches. The second part will focus on the possibilities of using this knowledge in communication are journalistic reflection. At the end of the course students will be familiar with key theories, describing the different dimensions and aspects of the process of media communication.
Students will acquire skills of application of media science methods when analyzing current topics of media communication and ability to apply skills and knowledges from current theories of media studies.
