Course content
1) Principles of Communication 2) Structure of communication situation and context. The role of the enviroment and social structure. 3) Role of reception in the process of communication. 4) Attitudes and prejudices and their role in communication. Cognitive, affective and behavioral component of communication. 5) Role of listening in communication. 6) Feedback and its role in communication. Feedback as a communication strategy. 7) Structure of dialogue. 8) Nonverbal communication and its role in detection lying. Myths vs. facts. 9) Basics of assertive communication. 10) Masmedia communication. The influence of media at communication process; ethical questions in media. 11) Persuasive communication and manipulation. 12) Communication in small groups. 13)Interpersonal communication in electronic environment.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
The main aim of the course is to acquaint students with contemporary approaches to human communication and their application to problems encountered in security sector and to concrete experience of individual students. Focus of the course is on discussion and practical exercises. After completing the course, students should be able to analyze communication situations they participate in and reflect their role in constitution of these situations.
Students acquire a set of key terms of social communication and interaction. Student are able to apply communication theory terms when analyzing current cultural and media issues.
Prerequisites
The knowledge of basic terms of humman communication theory.
