Course content
1. Opinions, comments in the current Czech journalism. 2. Tabloid media. 3. Infotainmen and tabloidization of news. Traditional journalism as a relict of the past? 4. Journalism genre blending. 5. Themes, selection and methods. 6. Language of news comments. 7. Traditional journalism vs. on-line I. Multimedia. Changes of media content. New technologies. 8. Traditional journalism vs. on-line II. New genres. Blurring of distinctions between news reporting and comments. 9. Citizen/public journalism. Data journalism. 10. Journalism ethics in a context of development of digital media. 11. Investigative reporting. Journalism "under fire". Future of journalism as a profession.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture
Learning outcomes
Students will learn about basic differences between news comments and news reporting. The course introduces students into the basic typology of journalistic news comments and into the major journalistic genres used in the current Czech media. Attention is also paid to the "genre blending" in current journalism. Students will learn about differences among comments for for print media, radio and television.
Student will be introduced into the production processes of all forms of the media and will be able to apply new skills in his/her future profession.
Prerequisites
Ability to create own journalistic texts. Orientation within the Czech media system.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam

Required knowledge and skills: - to identify, classify and analyze communications journalism in both print and audiovisual media; - to identify their specific composition means; Credit: - submission of written work on a selected topic - successful completion of written test Komplex exam: - consists of theoretical and practical part (theoretical knowledge and practical skills according the curriculum).
