Course content
1 What is the medium. Classical, electronic and digital media. The issue of new media. 2 Virtual reality - definition, classification, history, cyberspace. 3 Internet as a medium. Dynamic content media. Semantic Web. 4 Cyberculture. 5 Netart. 6 Text structure - history, development, text structure of an electronic age. 7 Hypertext - definition, history, development. 8 Influence of hypertext on cognitive function of man. 9 Electronic Literature: classic hypertext, multimedia literature, hypermedia. 10 Experimental literature and hypertext, typographic experiments (PDFart, texts in 3D environment). 11 Collaborative literature, weblog, e-mail, chat, wiki. 12 Artificial intelligence, chatbot, natural language processing, semantic networks. 13 Language of new media. Remediation of traditional media. Aesthetic aspects of new media products. 14 Internet journalism - characteristics, history, development.

  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim is to acquaint students with problems of new media, focusing on aspects of text and concepts associated with it - Virtual Reality, Cyberculture, netart etc.
The students are familiarized with the themes of the new media with regards to the textual aspects and related terms.
Prerequisites
at least moderately advanced work with ICT (work in a text editor, search the Internet, e-mail, work with graphics editors, presentation software)

Seminar Work

Active participation on seminars, cooperation, defending of the final project.
