Course content
1) Nature and its various concepts and concepts. Nature as a social construct, the Enlightenment and romantic view of nature, nature in the social and deep ecology. 2) Reflection of environmental problems. The beginnings of conservation and the environment, the emergence of the environmental movement as a social movement, the green critique of science and knowledge. 3) News and the environment I.. Risk and environment as a social construction, media framing of risk and the environment .. 4) News and the environment II. As the environment gets into the media, journalists as "gatekeepers" intelligence value of environmental events; who speaks about the environment, influence of advertising. 5) "Advocacy Journalism". Balance and commitment to media coverage of environmental issues. 6) Advertising and the natural world. Four types of nature use in advertising., A phenomenon of psychology "green" ads. 7) Animals in the media. Animals as symbols and abbreviations attitudes towards animals-"good and evil" anthropomorphism, animals in advertising. 8) The Media and Social Movements. Taxonomy of environmental movements and groups, media coverage enmvironemntálních groups and protests. 9) The media in liberal democratic society. Idea and reality: three concepts of the media in liberal democratic society, the shortcomings of the market view of media. 10) Other media. Alternative media, radical media.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic information about the relationship of man and nature, respectively. humans and their environment, and their reflection in the media.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge of legal conditions for starting periodical publishing and broadcasting and will gain knowledge and skills necessary to consider mass media contents from the legal point of view. Students will also be capable to deal with cases where right of free expression and the right to protection of personality are in collision.
