Course content
1. Controversial nature. Various concepts of nature and their development. 2. Human nature of nature. Old problems and old solutions. Nature as a social structure, nature and biology. Environment as a social construct. Ideal of wilderness. 3. Birth of Ecology. Ecology as a science in Arcadia or in the realm of reason. Ecology as subverzní science. 4. Ideology of control of environment. Christianity and the dominance of the environment. Parallels of Protestant ethics and capitalism, with regard to the environment. 5. Ideology of interest in environmental protection. 6. Ekofilosophy. Its formation in the 70s of the 20th century. 7. Green Political Thought. Authoritarian and conservative traditions. 8. Environmental liberalism. 9. Society, nature and new social movements. 10. Commodification and consumption environment. Commodification and industry.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with different conceptions of what it is nature and the environment.
Students will acquire skills of the course according to sylabus.
Prerequisites
General knowledge acquired during the studies.

Seminar Work

Active participation on seminars; Reading the course textbook and supplemental material as directed; Successfully completing all oral and written exercises and assignments as directed.
