Course content
|
1. Definitions of quantitative research. Types of research according to: function, aim, complexity, width and time organization. 2. Phases of the research: Preparation, realization, finalization. Strategies of the research from the perspective of the researcher, or the client. Validity and reliability fo the research. Research ethics. 3. Research Project: Types of projects and its structure. 4. Themes and topicst for research. Hypotheses. Operationalization. 5. Questionnaire. Interview. Comparison of these instruments. Observation and experiment. 6. Document analysis and content analysis. 7. Public Opinion Research - election polls, media effects and consumer research. Sampling methods. 8. Preparation of own research, research design. 9.-12. Work on own research project - data collection, their processing, statistical analysis, interpretation.

Learning outcomes
|
Core of the course is to learn an ability to conduct empirical research in studied field. Quantitative methods of research are deepened in this course above all.
Students will acquire skills according to the course sylabus - methodological text reading, conception and realization of own research project, group work, presentation of own research and analysis. Course is profoundly practically oriented

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of research methodology of social sciences. Introductory research methodology courses are prerequisite fot this course.

|
Mark, Written exam
Active participation in seminar lessons, cooperation on collectively realised research, final report writting, final knowledge test.
