Course content |
1. The process of human communication. Practice of various communication styles (conventional, conversational, operative, negotiative and personal style) 2. The elements of the effective communication: open and cooperative way of action. 3. Dyadic communication: the conversation and negotation; preparation for the interview; dialogue as a particular form of conversation; negotiating; 4. Verbal communication: the practice of various manner of handling with the people (with respect to the appropriate language choices). Practice of appropriate way of expressing the needs with respect to the audience/receiver. 5. Nonverbal communication: body talk (mimics, gestics, proxemics, haptics and posturics); the limits of interpretation of nonverbal signs of communication. 6. Rhetorics and oral speech: the practice of basic rhetoric skills; 7. Communication in small groups: examples of communication in small groups; group conflicts and their (possible) solutions; 8. Public communication: communication with the public; specifics of public performances (practice of public speeches); role playing; 9. Small group communication II: work teams and their specifics; roles in the work team. 10. Manipulative and agressive forms of communication: conflicts, discrimination, harassment and mobbing; rasism and xenophoby. 11. Various communication styles across the cultures (cultures with high and low communication context). 12. Intercultural nonverbal differences and cultural customs.

Learning outcomes |
The aim of this course is to practice of the communication skills. Student will get familiar with the basics of communication and will have an opportunity to practice and improve their communication skills practically through the role-playing, analysing of the situations in the context and discussions in the class.

Fully participate in class activities and simulations. Regularly attendance of the class (max 2 absences) Presentation on the chosen topic (15 minutes) Final report (3 standard pages) Colloquium: Develop and present own communication portfolio and its defense |
