Course content
Students become familiar with the paradigm of critical discourse analysis and try to apply it on the media discourse on the current economic crisis and global capitalism. The course also aims to answer the general question: what is the role of media in today's postmodern society in reproducing social and economic order, dominance, etc. The seminar also deals with basic knowledge of Pragmalinguistics, new rhetoric, text linguistics, etc.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the paradigm of critical discourse analysis and show the methods of analysis of media texts on globalization.
Students understand the basic principles of pragmalinguistics and text linguistics and they can apply it in the interdisciplinary paradigm of critical discourse analysis. They are able to understand the current political situation context of the discourse. At the same time the student is able to formulate a methodology of research according to specific objectives of their work.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Requirements for the exam: Active participation in lectures, reading of assigned texts and home preparing for lectures, demonstration of knowledge of topics discussed in the debate over the seminar work (min. 7 standard pages previously consulted on the subject).
