Course content
|
Theoretical part of the subject Writing and typography contains an overview of character development from its origin up to the present time when placing accent on important historical milestones (invention of letterprint, photosetting, DTP). Consecutive themes deal with textual composition, text editing, book lay-out, print preparation and press production. Within the practical part, students train the manual letter writing with classic tools (pen, brush) and create their own textual compositions.

Learning outcomes
|
Objective of the theoretical subject part is to provide students with information on the lateen character development within historical connections, questions of textual composition, basic typographic rules, print preparation and press production. Objective of the practical part is to exercise the writing and realization of own calligraphic compositions when applying classic tools (pen, brush) upon historical or modern examples.
