Course content
|
In addition to an overview of the dramaturgy exhibitions of the different types of galleries and exhibition institutions in the region and the whole country, students will be confronted with the major projects of today's curators. Excursions to these institutions, including meetings with individual curators, will occur to the greatest extent during the course. With the help of compulsory literature especially dealing with the issue of contemporary art, besides curating itself, the possibilities of presenting contemporary art as well as the confrontation meanings on the axis of the artist? will be highlighted curator / exhibition institution? marketing / artist representation? collector. In a representative form, students will be introduced to the area of art operations. Another integral part of the course will be the analysis of works of art in confrontation with their presentations. Students finish the instruction with their own curatorial project and its defense in a proposed exhibition space. An important component of the course and its own curatorial project is the acquisition of complex structures of curatorial activities: - A general overview of grants for artists and curators - The concept of exhibitions - Finding a space - Drafting the text of the project - Preparation of press releases - Creating reviews of the exhibition Basic topics: Curating Exhibition dramaturgy Exhibition institutions in the Czech Republic Personality of a curator Ways of presenting contemporary art Artist, curator / exhibition institution, marketing / artist representation, collector Curatorial project

Learning outcomes
|
After completing the course, students should be Able to: - Describe grant opportunities for artists and curators - Develop exhibition concepts - Design an exhibition project and explain its necessity - Prepare a press release about the exhibition - Critically evaluate and review the exhibition projects
After completing the course, students should be able to create own exhibition projects and develop exhibition concepts.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of art, interest in the field.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary), Dialog, Seminar Work
Active participation in lectures, seminar paper in the range of 5 pages. Thesis on their own curatorial project.
