GR1 seminar concentrates on the relief printing, the most widespread graphic technique - linocut. On the principle of ordered or free themes, it deals with image tone reduction procedures to black and white colour and possible approaches to processing single proposals or projects - from lapidary and radical simplification to a delicate engraver concept in monochromatic or multicoloured version. The printing practice and work with press forms an integral part of the course. The general content of GR1seminar also relates to image alterations according to specifics of graphic techniques and permeation of formal, technical and contentual components.

Learning outcomes
|
Besides achieving a good technical standard, the subject focuses mainly on the student's experience with preparing proposals and selecting the right design version for the final realization. It is also important that students apply effective methods that replace the mechanical work and shorten the way to desired results offering simultaneous projection of changes within its processing (design preparation in the form of black-and-white drawing and collage, xeroprint and its transfer on the matrix, proof-sheets during the work, etc.).
