Course content
Administration of the Czech state in the early Middle Ages. Conception of the Czech Crown Countries during the reign of Charles IV. and the constitutional status of Moravia. The Czech Estates State in the 15th-17th centuries century. The renewed establishment of the provincial (1627 and 1628) and the Czech state within the Habsburg monarchy until 1848. Changes in state administration and self-government in the years 1848-1918 with regard to education. State administration of Czechoslovakia in 1918-1938 and the Ministry of Education. Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Development of state administration and self-government in 1945-1989 and competence in relation to education. Self-governing organization of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic after 1989 with an emphasis on education.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students - future teachers of civics and social sciences - with institutions, structure and development of state administration and self-government in the Czech lands with an emphasis on education. In this context, the most important aspects and changes in the internal organization of the Czech lands will be followed from the early period, with special attention being paid to the period after 1848.
At the end of the course students should be able to: - to define changes in state administration and self-government in the history of the Czech lands, - explain the nature and role of state administration and self-government, - to characterize the most significant changes in the constitutional arrangement of the Czech lands, - assess the effectiveness of individual systems of state administration and self-government in the Czech lands after 1848, - analyze and evaluate the importance of state administration and self-government for the education sector after 1848.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledges from the history of 19th and 20th and regional history.

Active participation on seminars, elaboration of seminar work, self-study and preparation of materials for credit.
