Course content
1. Methodology of social sciences - interdisciplinary pedagogical subject. 2. Professional education of teachers of education towards citizenship and civics and social sciences education. 3. Research techniques and methodology in social sciences methodology. 4. Significance, aims and tasks of social sciences in the educational process at lower and upper secondary schools. 5. Psychology and sociology in the educational areas of "Education for citizenship" and "Foundations of civics and social sciences". 6. A human being - his personality and social groups - a mosaic of personal characteristics and interpersonal relations. 7. Political science and economy in the educational areas of "Education for citizenship" and "Foundations of civics and social sciences". 8. Legal sciences and philosophy in the educational areas of "Education for citizenship" and "Foundations of civics and social sciences". 9. Ethics and religious studies in the educational areas of "Education for citizenship" and "Foundations of civics and social sciences". 10. Ethical issues of our times - life and its value and religion and human life. 11. Humans and their way from the past to the future. Culture then and now. 12. Local history and geography - getting to know our region. 13. The European dimension and the social sciences. 14. Interdisciplinary approach - possibilities and ways of interlinking with similar educational fields (Humans and the world of work, Health education, Geography).

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
  • Attendace - 39 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 13 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 16 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The subject aims at clarifying the contemporary concept of social sciences in educational processes at lower and upper secondary schools inc. grammar schools and vocational schools.
Competences in the scope of the course objektive.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

100 per cent seminar attendance, successful completion of all assignments, active participation in the seminars
