Course content |
Possibilities and forms of active civic participation. Citizen and public affairs. Citizen and public institutions. Possibilities of defense in violation of own rights and rights of other person. Participation rights of children and adolescents. Examples of application of civic participation to the curriculum of primary and secondary school.

Learning outcomes |
The aim of the course is to acquaint students - future teachers of civics and social sciences - with the ways and possibilities on the basis of which a citizen can actively influence events in society and thus contribute to solving issues of public interest. Attention will also be paid to the issues of communication of citizens with public institutions, respect for the rights of others, including the need to actively speak out against violations of individual fundamental rights and generally accepted ethical standards. Students will also learn how to apply the above topics to the curriculum of primary and secondary school.
At the end of the course students should be able to: - characterize and describe the ways in which a citizen can actively influence social events, or into this happening to enter, - analyze the possibilities of active civic participation and their effectiveness in relation to the social fabric within the framework of the Czech Republic, - define the areas of problems that a citizen may address to individual state institutions (communication with authorities), - describe what can be done in violation of own rights and in violation of other people's rights, - introduces the possibilities of using individual thematic areas in the curriculum of primary and secondary school. |

General knowledges of the basics of political science and history of the 19th and 20th century.
