Course content
Topics: Theological and philosophical ideas of Master Jan Hus. Petr Chelčický, Jednota bratrská, Jan Amos Komenský. Bernard Bolzano's philosophy. Philosophy of Czech positivism and its representatives. Thinking of Czech Protestantism. (J. L. Hromádka et al., B. Kozák). Czech Catholicism (Dominik Pecka). Emanuel Rádl and T. G. Masaryk. Philosophical and political ideas of E. Beneš. Philosophy of Jan Patočka. Contemporary Czech Philosophy.

Learning outcomes
Students will be acquainted with the basic topics and personalities who significantly contributed to the development of Czech philosophical thinking. Students will be also taught to understand the nature of Czech philosophy in the historical context, including religious thinking and including a science-oriented approach to real problems. Students will be also taught to understand the philosophy of selected personalities and the possibilities of how to solve the main problems of their philosophy.
After finishing the course students should be able to: - to demonstrate knowledge and basic orientation in Czech philosophy - to explain the basic philosophical terms used by the personalities of Czech philosophy, - to characterize and analyse individual philosophical movements dominated by personalities of Czech philosophical thought, - to explain the importance and overlap of individual philosophical thinkers for the development of transnational philosophical thinking.

Prerequisity is passing of the course Man and philosophical thinking I (KVS / KCF1)

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Study of distance supports, participation in consultations, self-study - preparation for credit, passing the final test.
