Course content
Topics: Theoretical definition of ethics as a scientific discipline (subject, methodology, goals, basic ethical subdisciplines, basal terminology, concepts of value, conscience, morality, good). Basic ideas of selected ethical directions. Ethical and moral dilemmas in the past and present society. Axiological and moral context of the educational process at present. Ethics and morality (relationship and differences). Conscience, the concept of the soul. Ethical virtues (meaning, historical parallels and changes in time). Happiness and good (ethical realism). Freedom and responsibility. Standards and values in society, definition of own values. Justice. Categorical imperative. Reason and emotions in practical ethics. Materialistic concept in ethics.

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training)
  • Preparation for the Exam - 37 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The course will introduce students to the systematic interpretation of ethics and major ethical categories. Emphasis will also be placed on linking knowledge with some other social science disciplines (especially philosophy) and on applying theoretical knowledge to specific practical situations. At the end of the course students should be able to: "to define ethics as a science, to characterize its subject, to use and apply the basic conceptual apparatus, "understand and explain the essence of individual ethical trends, "to clarify the relationship between ethics, morality and philosophy, "to define the nature of ethical and moral problems in the historical context and in the present,
Application of theoretical ethical postulates in practice.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is the orientation of students in the literature and knowledge of basal terminology.
