Course content
Philocalic tradition and spiritual guidance. Basic terms of philocaly. Basal health. Disease and pathology of fallen man. Disorganized passions as spiritual diseases. Ascetic evaluation of vices. Healing through sacraments. A therapeutical role of spiritual father and spiritual mother. Conflict with bad thoughts. Asceticism as supporting therapy in the wholeness of man and experienced relationships.

Learning outcomes
Introduction to the problems of ascetic tradition of the Church in connection with contemporary conception of spiritual life and health.
Students will acquire necessary knowledge and connections of spiritual life in the sphere of the following concepts: basal health, healing of physical and spiritual diseases, addictions, sinful habits and the means of healing asceticism for contemporary man.

Colloquium based on reading and the interpretation of texts of spiritual life classics. Written reflection.
