Course content
Plan for the topics according to the weeks: PowerPoint presentations covering the following general topics: 1. General information about Ukraine (geography, administrative structure, regions, inhabitants, minorities) 2. Industry, economy and transport in Ukraine. 3. Confession, religion, churches. 4. Ukrainian mass-media. 5. Educational system in Ukraine (its structure, prominent universities, realia of student life). 6. Holidays, tradition, customs. 7. Kiev. 8. Lvov. 9. Autonomous republic of Crimea. 10. Travelling across Ukraine (prominent monuments, towns, sightseeing, UNESCO heritage etc.). 11. Transport and travelling in Ukraine. 12. Presentation of Ukraine abroad. 13. Credit week.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to deepen the students? knowledge of geographical, economic, cultural, political, religious and other realia of present day Ukraine. The course consists of PowerPoint presentations and discussion. Students will get familiar with everyday realia of Ukraine and Ukrainian holidays, traditions, customs and most important Ukrainian towns and their monuments as well as with religious situation, churches and education system, mass-media and web-portals. We shall use the wide possibilities of Internet (web-portals, audio and video presentations).
Basic outline of Ukrainian realia in various aspect of everyday life.
Prerequisites
This course is designed for students who already have a basic knowledge of Ukraine, Ukrainian alphabet and a passive knowledge of Ukrainian language (which is important for the video-presentations).

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Preparedness for each lesson, making a presentation on a given topic, answering questions regarding the topic of Ukrainian realia.
