The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with the basic works of Ukrainian cinema and thus with the history and realities of Ukraine. Films are selected to balance Ukrainian film classics and contemporary works. Watching some of the films whose scripts are based on literary works will also be beneficial in introducing the literary works of Ukrainian writers. This course is also aimed at deepening knowledge in the field of literary theory in confrontation with the field of film. We strive for genre diversity, so we select documentaries, comedies, romantic films, educational films, and fairy tales. Students are expected to attend this course regularly and complete a final assignment. The outcome of each film, and a requirement for credit, is a quality review that must meet all review criteria. Subjective evaluation, objective facts, confrontation with the literary work, and general insight into the subject matter or genre are valued.
