This practical course on grammar is interconnected with the parallel course Morphology 1, which provides the theoretical background for the exercises. The focus is on the analysis of texts and grammar forms, on practical understanding the word-formation processes in Ukrainian (morphological and non-morphological), defining parts of speech and their basic grammatical categories. The aim of this course is to provide the students with an outline of nominal grammatical categories, rules for pronunciation and orthography. Special attention is paid to pronunciation and formation of nouns and adjectives. During the lessons we shall exercise the categories of nouns and adjectives and confront the Ukrainian and Czech grammar. We shall also translate short texts and sentences.
Students will understand the grammar system and the processes of word-formation in the present day Ukrainian. They will be able to pronounce correctly and to write in accordance with the Ukrainian orthography.
