Course content

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide a basic and systematic overview of Ukrainian grammar, focusing on key rules of spelling. In the initial phase, instruction is closely linked to phonetics, with an emphasis on correct pronunciation, articulation, and sentence intonation, which form the basis for mastering grammatical structures. The course is designed to build a basic grammatical foundation, particularly in the areas of morphology and the fundamentals of syntax. Students will master the basic grammatical categories and principles of how Ukrainian functions. The course also includes a contrastive comparison with Czech and the application of grammar through the translation of simple sentences and short texts. At the same time, the course supports the development of basic communication skills and the expansion of vocabulary.
On outline of graphic, phonetic and orthographic system in present day Ukrainian. An ability to pronounce correctly and to intone sentences and words as well as to write in accordance with the Ukrainian orthography.
Prerequisites
This course is designed for beginners and requires only a knowledge of Ukrainian alphabet and an ability to write on a basic level in Ukrainian.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Analysis of linguistic

Regular active participation, max. 2 absences, fulfilling the tasks assigned for each lesson, consulting dictionaries and other literature, searching for answers to difficult questions, following the current trends in language, active participation in discussion. A written test on morphological features and forms of autosemantic parts of speech. Understanding the rules for interpunction.
