After indispensable introduction to the methodology and places of tractate in the whole of dogmatic theology, the subject will be divided in three basic parts: Doctrine of the Catholic Church on the Mother of the Redeemer; Mary in the mystery of Christ and the Church; Mary and the unity of Christians. In the first part, the subject will deal with the origin and analysis of the content of Marian dogmas; the second part will contain theological reflection of Mariology following as its guidelines Chapter 8 of Lumen Gentium; the third part focuses on the ecumenical importance of the teachings of Mary. Individual topics: - the Marian Dogmas of the Catholic Church (Mary the Virgin and Mother, Immaculate Conception, Assumption), - Mary in the life of Jesus Christ and in the mystery of the Holy Spirit, - Mary's role in the work of redemption, - Mary in the Mystery of the Church (Mary as exemplar of Church and Christian Life) - manifestations of Marian cult in the Church, - ecumenical context of Mariology (Mary and Christian East, Mary's place in the theology and piety of reformers).

In the subject of Introduction in Mariology, the Catholic doctrine of the faith regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary will be presented in synthetic form. The theological reflection on Mary, which will be based on the main lines contained in the teaching of the Second Vatican Council, will also seek to link with the practice of the Church's Marian devotion and piety and seek to point out the ecumenical dimension of Mariology.
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - identify the basic sources of the teachings of Mary in Scripture and the Church's tradition, - explain and describe the genesis and content of the Catholic doctrine of the Blessed Virgin, - interpret the main lines of Mariology contained in Chapter 8 of Lumen Gentium and in the post-conciliar magisterium - to distinguish and critically assess forms of Marian piety and cult in the Church and to identify their impact on contemporary spirituality and pastoral practice - to grasp the importance of reflection on Mary for his/her own theological synthesis, spiritual life and pastoral practice, - to evaluate the ecumenical context of Mariology and its importance for Christian unity.
