Course content
After the necessary introduction to the specifics of the methodology and the place of the treatise in the whole of dogmatic theology, the course will be structured in three parts: Mary in the history of salvation from the perspective of biblical revelation; the Church's teaching on the Blessed Virgin Mary; the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church. In the first part, the course will examine the biblical foundation of the doctrine of Mary, which situates Mariological reflection in the dynamics of history of salvation; the second part will present the origin, content and meaning of Marian dogmas; the third part will focus on the position and role of the Mother of God in the midst of the People of God, including the ecumenical significance of the doctrine of Mary. Individual topics: Mary of Nazareth and the life of Jesus Christ; the Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church (Mary Virgin and Mother, Immaculate Conception, Assumption); Mary's role in the work of redemption; Mary in the mystery of the Church (Mary the model of the Church and Christian life); expressions of Marian veneration in the Church; the ecumenical context of Mariology (Mary and the Christian East, the place of Mary in the theology and piety of the Reformers).

Learning outcomes
The course Mariology will present in a synthetic form the doctrine of the faith of the Catholic Church about the Blessed Virgin Mary. The theological reflection on Mary, which will be based on the main lines contained in the teaching of the Second Vatican Council (Chapter 8 of the Constitution Lumen Gentium), will also seek to connect with the Church's practice of Marian devotion and piety and will seek to highlight the ecumenical dimension of Mariology.
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - identify the basic sources of the teachings of Mary in Scripture and the Church's tradition, - explain and describe the genesis and content of the Catholic doctrine of the Blessed Virgin, - interpret the main lines of Mariology contained in Chapter 8 of Lumen Gentium and in the post-conciliar magisterium - to distinguish and critically assess forms of Marian piety and cult in the Church and to identify their impact on contemporary spirituality and pastoral practice - to grasp the importance of reflection on Mary for his/her own theological synthesis, spiritual life and pastoral practice, - to evaluate the ecumenical context of Mariology and its importance for Christian unity.
