1.-2. Introduction to contrastive stylistics. Methods and approaches. 3.-4. Resources of stylistics of Russian and Czech languages from a contrastive perspective. 5.-6. Vocabulary and phraseology of RL and CL from a comparative stylistic perspective. 7.-8. Expressive resources of RL and CL from the perspective of comparative stylistics. 9.-10. Functional styles of RL and CL from a comparative stylistic perspective. 11. Stylistics and translation. Key aspects. 12. Concluding exercises.

Learning outcomes
|
This course is designed to facilitate and reinforce the students´ comparative treatment of Russian and Czech stylistic features in a text. The course explores key comparative and comparative stylistic techniques and looks at the stylistic features of the different levels of the language systems of the languages being compared.
The student will acquire a theoretical knowledge of comparative stylistics and practical skills in correct comparing stylistic phenomena.

Prerequisites
|
Good knowledge of Russian language (B2 - C1), basic knowledge of stylistic aspects of Russian and ability to analyse a text (e.g., completing the KSR/7STYL course).

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Written exam, Student performance
- attendance at lectures and seminars with a maximum of 2 weeks absences per semester; - completion of assignments; - analysis of the student's performance; - successful passing of the examination.
