Course content
The course is working with political, economic and entertainment TV programmes, articles from Russian newspaper and journals on politics, culture and public life. Students extend their knowledge and vocabulary in the sphere of social-cultural, political and economic facts of today's Russian society.

Learning outcomes
This optional course aims to acquaint students with the current life in nowadays Russia as presented in Russian media ? public TV station ORT and Russian journalism. Students extend their vocabulary and knowledge in the area of culture, social, political and economical facts of today?s Russian society.
Being introduced into various kinds of Russian TV programmes and examples from the press, students not only understand the content, but also take bearings in the language of different media.
Prerequisites
Advanced knowledge of Russian, ability to understand publicistic texts and spoken language in TV programmes (documentary, analytical, reporting, entertainment, and humorous programmes).

Oral exam, Written exam, Student performance

Participation in class, working-out of assigned tasks, credit test.
