Learning outcomes
|
This course is focused on exercising the basic translation methods (compensation, amplification, deletion) on concrete texts which concern the topic of tourism. We shall deal with texts in the journalistic and scientific style. This topic has a very dynamic terminology and we shall focus on the translation of these terms and collocations as well as fixed expressions with conjunctions etc. It is important to stress the role of the word order in the terminological expressions. Students prepare their translations at home, at the seminar we shall discuss the problematic parts and look for the best possible equivalents.
Students will be able to work with the terminology used in tourism and to translate texts on this topic in both directions.
