Course content
The content of the practical training depends on the needs of the particular translation agency.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Observation
  • Semestral Work - 65 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 60 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students will complete a 3-week field practice in a translating agency of their own choice. This will permit them to examine their knowledge acquired in the theoretical course and will provide them with a valuable experience in translating practice. After the field practice they will submit a form (Výkaz popisu provedených činností a úkolů) which confirms their activities. Students are also asked to submit their own translation of at least 20 standard pages (Russian to Czech or vice versa), together with a glossary of terms and an analytical commentary on the specific linguistic issues.
Students will examine their knowledge acquired in the theoretical courses and will get familiar with translator's practice.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian, at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Student performance

- 3-week field practice in a translating agency - 20-page translation (Russian to Czech or vice versa) - practice report - confirmation of practice
