Learning outcomes
|
This course has the aim to present the students with the basic problems of cross-cultural communication in the modern globalized world. Despite the approximation of cultures there are still significant differences between the cultures as regards their values, opinions and norms, which can lead to misunderstanding and conflict. Students will acquire basic competence in cross-cultural communication by realizing the different communicative styles, non-verbal communication habits and other aspects of communication. We accentuate the fact that a knowledge of cultural specific features is next to the knowledge of language a necessary part of communicative competence of successful interpeters and translators.
