|
Historical and cultural context of Russian emigration of the first wave. Centres of White emigration in Europe and in the world. Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian emigration in Czechoslovakia. Emigration of minorities.

Learning outcomes
|
The seminar deals with the phenomenon of Russian interwar emigration, its history, culture, and literature. The diversity of fields and areas in which Russian emigration played distinctive role across all important centres in Europe will be presented. A substantial part of the course is devoted to Russian emigration to Czechoslovakia, especially to lesser-known actors of social and cultural life. The course will also include practical research work, thanks to which students will learn the basic procedures of studying archival materials. The seminar is taught in Russian and Czech.
Student will enhance the general knowledge about Russian emigration of the first wave.

The course is meant for all students interested in Russian literature and culture.
