Course content
01. Present day linguoculturology - its history and terminology. 02. The Linguoculturology in relation to other linguistic disciplines. 03. Language and culture. 04. Russian phraseology - basic concepts. 05. Linguoculturological aspect of Russian phraseology. 06. National features of Russian phraseology. 07. Phraseology and history. 08. Phraseology and religion. 09. Phraseology and nature. 10. The image of man in Russian phraseology. 11. The evolution of Russian phraseology under the new cultural and social conditions in Russia.

Learning outcomes
This course is designed mainly for students of philology study programme. The aim of the course is to present the students with issue of the current linguoculturology and linguoculturological analysis of Russian phrasemes. In the theoretical part we shall discuss the history of linguoculturology, its place among other linguistic disciplines and its terminology. We shall focus also on the language as reflection of the world and the relevant semantic meaning incorporated in Russian phrasemes. Students will learn to analyse phraseological units related to history, lifestyle, religion, nature etc. Special attention will be paid to the evolution of phraseology under the new cultural and social conditions of present day Russia. We shall analyse both the phrasemes of Russian origin and phrasemes borrowed from other languages.
Students will get familiar with the current linguoculturology and phraseology as well as with phrasemes that reflect national-specific features.
Prerequisites
A practical knowledge of Russian, at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages

Oral exam, Written exam

Attendance, max. 2absences. Fulfilling the assigned tasks. Passing the credit test.
