The aim of this course is to present the students with the aesthetical values of Soviet film in the in the period of 1956 to 1991. The films are selected in a way that they would compose a complex outline of Soviet cinematography of this period. We shall discuss films by various producers, directors and genres. We shall focus in detail on the analysis of artistic elements in each of the selected films. The analysis shall deal mainly with the aesthetical specific features of a given film and its influential moments in the Russian cinematography of this period.
