Types of sentences according to the communicative aim. Types of sentences according to modality. Negation in Russian and Czech. Main sentence constituents. Secondary sentence constituents. Multiple sentence constituents. Independent sentence constituents. Monopredicative sentence. Coordinate clauses. Subordinate clauses. Word order and sentence perspective. Revision, text analysis. Colloquium

Learning outcomes
This linguistic course is a follow-up course to the course Grammar of Current Russian 1. In this course we shall focus on the syntax of present-day Russian in confrontation with Czech syntax. We shall talk about: Types of sentences according to the communicative aim, Types of sentences according to modality, Negation in Russian and Czech, Main sentence constituents, Secondary sentence constituents, Multiple sentence constituents. Independent sentence constituents, Monopredicative sentence, Coordinate clauses, Subordinate clauses, Word order and sentence perspective. Thus the students who do not study philology will get familiar with the necessary theoretical basis for understanding the system of present day Russian language.
Students will understand the syntax of Russian language, the sentence constituents and the types of sentences and clauses.
Prerequisites
Awareness of practical Russian grammar as expected in this stage of study, knowledge of Russian on the level A2.

Oral exam
