Learning outcomes
|
Following on from the disciplines devoted to Russian history and Russian literature, the most significant trends and movements in modern Russian culture are studied in a comprehensive manner, i.e., emphasis is placed in particular on seeking manifestations of these artistic trends in the visual arts, music, and architecture. Dominant attention is paid to issues of art's struggle for freedom in relation to political power.
Students will understand the main trends in modern Russian art in terms of its dynamics and diversity.

Prerequisites
|
This course requires a profound knowledge of the history of Russian literature and culture of the 19th and 20th century, a good knowledge of history of Russia and an insight into the development of modern European culture.

Written exam, Student performance
Active participation in seminars (discussion, presentation, reading the recommended texts), max. 2 absences Passing the written test (max. three attempts)
