Learning outcomes
The seminar focuses on the translation and production of film subtitles. Translations are discussed in terms of the appropriate approach to solving translation problems and requirements for translation of audiovisual works and for subtitling. The analysis are lexical, syntactic, pragmatic, textual and stylistic. Students will learn about linguistic, paralingual and pragmatic aspects of subtitling and technical subtitling requirements.
Students will acquire the skill to apply the general methods of how to work with language and Russian and Czech texts and how to translate them. They will be able to create a glossary to a selected topic and look up a necessary information about difficult issues.
Prerequisites
A practical knowledge of Russian, at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages, a good knowlegde of Czech min. on C1 level of the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages and basic knowledge of practice and theory of translation methods.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Attendance, max. 2 absences, submitting the written assignments, passing the credit test.
