This course further develops the knowledge of Russian grammar gained during previous grammar courses. The aim of this course is to present the students not only with selected grammar phenomena and to let them develop the correct language habits, both written and oral, abut also to develop their ability to use them in specialized texts. Special attention is paid to complex and compound sentences, especially translation of conjunctions, monopredicative sentences (with finite verb, infinite verb), sentences with indefinite subject, sentences with general subject, but also typical structures used in specialized texts, their function in the text. In particular these are: nouns in texts for special purposes (esp. deverbative nouns), verbs in specialized text (semantics of aspect, subject control, passive voice), participles, transgressives, adjectives (short forms and compound forms), selected conjunctions. All these phenomena will be analysed on morphological and syntactic level and compared to Czech grammar.
Students can apply correctly the grammar constructions typical of specialized texts and are able to translate these constructions in both directions.
