Course content
1. Stylistics and the theory of text; common points and differences 2. Basic notions from the theory of text, their definition and work with text 3. Stylistics as a linguistic discipline; the methods used and the basic terminology 4. Stylistic factors 5. Stylistic value, differentiation and stratification of a national language 6: Function style theory 7. Matter-of-fact functional style 8. Professional and administrative functional styles 9. Journalistic functional style 10. Aesthetic functional style 11. Text composition, stylistic strategies and their modifications; horizontal and vertical division of text 12. Preparation for the colloquium

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to learn how to analyse different types of texts and work with them further.
The course focuses on practical work with specialised texts and, in particular, on their creation. Students will become familiar with different ways of understanding of text and style, the preparatory works, strategies used in specialised and utility texts (definition, classification, analysis, comparison and argumentation), and with a correct way of making notes and citations.
Prerequisites
B2 level in Polish language.

- Participation in lectures with a maximum absence of 2 lessons per semestre - Individual lecture of translatological literature (essays and articles) with an extension of 20 pages - Successful passing of the colloquium
