Course content
1. What is pop culture? Introduction of key terms. Discussion of the course and prerequisites. 2. Radio and podcasts 3. Television and streaming (including the celebrity phenomenon, talk shows). 4. Films and series (including comedies, including romantic comedies) 5. Music (songs, popular music, rock in PRL and today, disco polo) 6. Comics as cultural text 7. Newspapers and magazines (including fanzines) 8. Cabaret (cabarets in the People's Republic of Poland and today) 9. Popular literature (introduction to the history and genology of popular literature, including romantic, erotic and crime literature, fantasy and fantasy) 10. Social media and new media 11. Presentation of projects prepared by students. 12. Summary of activities.

Learning outcomes
To introduce students to the most important phenomena of Polish pop culture (in both synchronic and diachronic aspects).
Students will gain knowledge of contemporary culture and an understanding of contemporary Polish cultural life, they will be able to interpret pop culture texts and analyse the language of selected pop culture texts students will be able to interpret manifestations of pop culture and relate them to sociocultural and historical contexts.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in Polish pop culture. Good knowledge of Polish at B2 level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Final project

Orientation in Polish culture, literature, history and art, 80% participation in classes. Discussion, project, project presentation. Students prepare a project and present it, oral credit.
