1. Typological and genetic features of Polish and Czech. Typologically relevant features of both languages. 2. Polish-Czech imaginary inflectional equivalence. 3. Polish-Czech imaginary gender equivalency. 4. Polish-Czech different word formation processes. 5. False friends among comparative and superlative adjectives in Czech and Polish. 6. Differences in pronunciation and spelling of foreign words in Polish and Czech. 7. Lexical false friends - polonisms. 8. Lexical false friends - bohemisms. 9. Mode non-equivalency of verbs in both languages. 10. Multiverbisms in Polish and Czech. 11. Regimen of Polish and Czech verbs. 12. - 13. Revision, test preparation. Test.

Learning outcomes
|
In this course, the focus is put on acquisition of complex comparative concepts of Polish and Czech languages. The starting point is a premise that these two languages are genetically close but typologically different. The aim is to point out problematic issues based on their similarity and on negative transfer.
The student will acquire competences as stated in the syllabus.

Prerequisites
|
Having successfully completed the preceding courses "Praktická cvičen konverzační" and "Praktická cvičení gramatická"; reading of academic papers and practical study texts in Polish.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
Regular and active attendance - 80%, two absences are permitted; fulfilment of all partial assessment tasks; presentation; individual study of Polish texts.
