1. The utterance as a linguistic unit - definition and typology 2. Components of an utterance and syntactic relations 3. Coordination and subordination between the components of an utterance 4. Main sentence constituents (subject and predicate) 5. Secondary sentence constituents (attribute, object, adverbial) 6. Participial clause equivalents 7. Simple sentence - structure and syntactic analysis 8. Coordinate complex sentences (parataxis) 9. Subordinate complex sentences (hypotaxis) 10. Modality and communicative functions of the utterance 11. Information structure of the sentence (theme-rheme) 12. Syntactic transformations and sentence structure 13. Examination preparation (syntactic analysis and model tasks)

This course will cover the complex issue of Polish sentences from the comparative and global point of view. Traditional and untraditional syntax of Polish linguistic school. Formal analyses of all syntactic configurations.
The students will acquire competences as stated in the syllabus. |
