|
Graduates gain knowledge about the role sport plays in the process of socialisation and education of an individual. Related general sociological and socio-psychological concepts will be introduced. The seminar draws on the sociology of sport that presents sport as a complex social structure tightly interconnected with cultural, economic and political influences. The link between sport and development will be specifically highlighted. The links between sports and socialisation will be presented on several levels: macro-level includes mass-mediated sport, sport migration or national politics supporting the sport. The mezzo-level may contain a local supply of sporting activities for children, supporting local clubs or sporting subcultures. The micro-level consists of practices in specific sporting groups or effects of family background on the sport participation.
