Course content
The course is delivered in blocks, in which the following topics are taught: 1. Family of a disabled individual, coping. 2. Mental retardation - clinical picture. 3. Pervasive development disorders. 4. Psychological aspects of development in people with eye impairment. 5. Psychological aspects of development in people with hearing impairment and deaf-blind people. 6. Psychological aspects of development in people with somatic disorders. 7. Issues of chronically ill and immedicable people. 8. Pain issues. 9. Hospitalization and its aspects. 11. Psychic trauma. 12. Basic therapeutic schools and trends. 13. Personality of a teacher - social relations, connections, cooperation with other experts.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
  • Attendace - 13 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 6 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 6 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The course builds on the Basics of psychopathology and social pathology course and provides the students with further information from psychopathology - applied psychological discipline which deals with mental development and specific features of disabled people or socially vulnerable individuals. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student is informed about health disability (congenital and acquired) in children, adolescents and adults from the perspective of a pedagogical worker. The student understands and is knowledgeable about the legislation of disabled persons. The student can apply the knowledge acquired in the practice of assisting jobs. The student has an insight into the life of families with a disabled person.
Prerequisites
The student is expected to have the knowledge from the Basics of psychopathology and social pathology course, which enables the student to understand the specifics of the issues discussed.

1. 100% attendance in seminars. 2. Submission of a seminar paper. 3. Assigned literature study. 4. Credit test.
