Course content
1. Introduction to sport psychology: academic and applied issues. 2. Motivation in sport and physical activity: dynamics of motivation in sport and exercise, contemporary approaches to motivation, enhancement of motivation in sport and exercise. 3. Individual differences and behavior in sport and exercise: stress, anxiety, frustration, burn-out syndrome, reaction to failure, aggression; arousal regulation. 4. Applied sport psychology: Psychological skills training, performance preparation, periodization of psychological preparation. 5. Coaching effectiveness: coaching behavior, mental health, Self-awareness, Self-regulation.

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Demonstration, Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to present basic information about the application of psychological knowledge in the area of physical education, physical recreation, performance and professional sport.
After taking the course, the student should be to understand basic principles influencing the behavior and experiencing in stress situations associated with physical activity. The student is able to apply psychological knowledge in the context of physical exercise (recreation, performance and professional sport). The student is motivated for further learning in the area as a part of lifelong education.
Prerequisites
A general overview in psychology.

1. RESEARCH ARTICLE RESUME: Based on the database search choose a research article from the field of sport psychology. Search: go to LIBRARY, E-SOURCES, EBSCO search, SPORTDISCUS, advanced search, keywords: sport of your choice "AND" sport psychology. For those who do not have access to databases, please use Google Scholar. Please use articles no older than year 2000. A handout summarizing the article (1-2pages) will be sent to teacher via e-mail. All the papers will be posted on Moodle for the classmates to share. In the resume present critically short review of current knowledge, methods, results and discussion. Practical applications should be provided along with future directions for research. 2. WRITTEN EXAMINATION: Address a sport psychology issue or problem, that an individual athlete or team could be experiencing and suggest possible solutions or arrangements that could be implemented into the training process by a coach. The paper should begin with introduction. You are asked to review the literature/internet and database articles and provide short report of information related to your topic. Think critically and try to provide the layout of the possible solutions or interventions. You should conclude the paper with the discussion and conclusion. Paper must be typed, 1,5 spaced, APA style, no longer than 3-4 pages. Paper must include list of references.
