Learning outcomes

The Basics of Statistics course introduces students basic concepts and statistics. The student gets an overview of what statistics are and what statistical procedures can be used based on the types of data. Basic statistical characteristics are calculated without the use of software to give the student an overview of how a given characteristic or method works and thus better interpret its outcome.
The aim of this course is to acquire basis skills in descriptive statistics. It means to create one's own data sets and to use other data sets. Students are able to manage data, to apply basic statistical procedures (one-way and manifold classification, creation of contingency tables and use of coefficients for measuring the power of association of two variables, correlation and regression analysis) and mainly to interpret the analytical findings.
