Learning outcomes
|
The course will present selected theoretical approaches in the study of religion that relate to the study of religious thought (the nature of belief) and behavior (rituals and morality). At the same time, students will be introduced to traditional and modern scientific methods of research on religion.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: demonstrate knowledge of key theoretical and methodological approaches in the study of religions; define the basic principles, theories, methods of religion; evaluate and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the main theoretical approaches of religion from the beginning to the present.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam
Participation in all lectures and laboratory classes. Completion of an final examin covering the individual topics from the syllabus and required readings (Pals, Eight Theories of Religion).
