Learning outcomes
The course is based primarily on reading, commenting and discussing the classic sociological publication Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann "Social Construction of Reality". During the course, the book, respectively. its parts, read in the auditorium, where these passages are interpreted, interpreted and put into a broader context. Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is focused not only on the verification of reading comprehension, but also on the ability to put the reading text (theory and concept) into a broader sociological context. In addition to reading and interpreting the book "Social Construction of Reality", texts illustrating the use of social constructivism in selected areas of sociology (sociology of gender, sociology of ethnicity and nationalism, sociology of memory and sociology of religion) are read and discussed. At the same time, criticism of social constructivism is made. Also presented are efforts to overcome the shortcomings of social constructivism and to seek a synthesis of nominalism and realism, respectively interpretativism and positivism.
