Learning outcomes
The aim of the practicum is to develop students' ability to design and independently conduct field research focused on migration-related issues and subsequently present and defend their findings. The course focuses on developing the skills required to formulate a research problem, prepare an appropriate research design, enter and navigate the field, and collect relevant empirical data within a defined time frame. Students select a research topic, develop a research plan, enter the field, and carry out their own data collection. The data obtained are appropriately documented, organised, and subjected to an initial analysis. An integral part of the practicum is critical reflection on the research process, the methodological choices made, the researcher's own positionality, and any methodological or ethical issues encountered during fieldwork. At the end of the course, students present and defend the results of their research.
